The Sand Pont
Naval Air Station in Seattle was closed in 1995 and became the Warren G. Magnuson Park and in 1998, a
sculpture project, "The Fin Project: From Swords to
Plowshares." Made from submarine fins, each one has a plaque describing from
which submarine it came.
The sculpture project title comes from Micah 4:3: “…they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”
