Good Posture!!?

Today Joan put in the shoulder brace for our walk, paths through meadows at Telemark. Then onto Nordmor Road.

  

    Ron has to walk 2 miles a day (doctor’s orders) and we’ve been leaving so quickly, she’s been forgetting to put it on. It says you can wear it in the house too, like while sitting at the computer, to better your posture.

On the Lake

When Ron’s brother Merlyn and wife Mary were here, we rented the pontoon boat for a day and rode to Garmish for lunch.  It was a prefect day and Ron went fishing a little too.

We were out all day and Joan was worried how she would fix dinner for everyone.  But she thought and thought on the boat and when we returned at 6:30 p.m.,she had a complete supper ready by 7 p.m.  That's MAGIC!

Mom's Memorial Service

We had arrived at Telemark September 1^st and then drove to Minneapolis the 15th for Mom’s (Ron’s mother) memorial service.  We rented a 3-bedroom Airbnb to also host Keenan and Emily.  All other family members stayed in a hotel.

Although we wanted the memorial to be in Albert Lea, the rest of the family/brothers did not, so it was held at a funeral parlor in Bloomington MN, but it did make sense in that she would be buried with Ron’s dad at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis.  We drove up on Sunday the 15^th and picked up Keenan and Emily at the airport that night.

     The next morning, we all met at the funeral parlor and Joan displayed her family scrapbooks on the table where there were lots of other photos too and posters of pictures.

Keenan read the scripture, Ron spoke, Adam sang, and a pastor friend spoke.  Anyone else who wanted to say something got to speak too.

The grandchildren were the pallbearers.

We got to take what flowers we liked

Cliff sad Ron was to get this small commode which Mom had had in her room at the Vines assisted living home.  He was honored to have it and we put it in our van, had it up in Telemark (here) but now it is in our storeroom in IL.
We need to get it to Seattle somehow.

Merlyn and Mary had always planned to  spend a week with us at Telemark, flying into Duluth.  Sine the memorial was the 15th in Minneapolis, they rerouted to arrive in MSP and return from Duluth (where we would take them after.)  So after the memorial, they came to Telemark with us on Tuesday

Jigsaw Puzzle in Unit P401

Joan and Becky like jigsaw puzzles --and Becky is an expert!  We stayed up all night and did this fun Disney one that Joan had bought in Hayward.

Baptism in a COLD Lake

Yep!  Pastor Ken Cluck of Living Hope Church in Cable will baptize anyone anytime who wants it – guess it could get colder in winter but it was still cold.

Telemark Guests and the Apostle Island Lighthouse and Sea Cave Cruise

 We were happy to have friends come to visit us up here:  Becky, a TUG friend from Iowa (Sep 3-10), Nancy and Stu from Toronto, long-time friends we first met in the St Augustine timeshare (Sep 12-14), and then Merlyn and Mary from Mississippi, Ron‘s brother and wife Sep 17-24).

And we went walking – 2 miles per day -- in the woods with all of them!

  Sept 3  First, Becky came and we had such a good time.  Walked, talked, watched movies, roasted hot dogs, and went on the Apostle Island cruise.

    We roasted hot dogs twice in the firepit down by the lake.

     Sept 7   We have long wanted to go on an Apostle Island Cruise out of Bayfield but held off to go with a friend.  The Lighthouse-Sea Cave trip is 3 hours long and very comfortable with good views from the windows, the back of the boat and on top. It was a little chilly so we got good seats by the window inside. The captain turns the boat around at each sighting so all can get a good view.  

First we saw two lighthouses: 

 The sea caves were unbelievable – along  the mainland north of Bayfield.  Who knew they were there without taking this cruise.

Ron’s brother came for a week also and we enjoyed the time together, and also cooked hotdogs at the beach.
