Look at the Gorgeous airbnb Place We Are Staying in

We wanted a place close to the college so we reserved this on airbnb and checked in this afternoon.  This is a gorgeous place: a newly completely remodeled home, with everything as high-end as can be.  And anything we could want as we have kitchen privileges and the hosts treat us as good friends (or even family.)  We are about a mile from the college and close to everything in the Anaheim area, so it is central to anywhere we would like to go.  It is right on a park with a nice walking path.  Unfortunately, it is too hot in the day to walk there (for us) but mornings are nice.
     Our hosts are unbelievably nice!!!!

BIOLA University, La Mirada, CA

We are so happy that Clayton is going to BIOLA (majoring in tuba); thus, we are visiting him after he's had a few weeks to get settled in.  It was a good day today: we got to sit in on a band rehearsal and it was GREAT!

Southern California

We flew to SNA (Orange County airport) Saturday to visit Clayton for a week at BIOLA University, where he is a freshman in the Music Conservatory.  We were going to drive but then Alaska Airlines had a GREAT fare using FF miles and so, even renting a car, we will save about $400 of traveling costs – not to say the driving hours.
We came two days early in order to see our friends who just moved to San Jancinto …the inland more desert area vs the more coastal California area.  Then we drove to La Mirada today around noon (to avoid the traffic) in order to see Clayton this evening during his band practice.  We met the band director and saw a fabulous rehearsal!
Joan was very concerned about driving in LA; all we hear about is how bad the traffic is.  Then our friends noted that the TV shows so many accidents caused by people coming up the wrong way on ramps.  Oops!
But driving over to La Mirada today, we had no problems.  We watched the traffic on the iPhone map and took some surface roads in some places.

Excursion Van Repairs

Ron went to the wrecking yard today in Kent and got this ceiling part for the van (that is in Atlanta right now) that he’s been wanting for a long time.  He doesn’t need the whole thing, so he will just take the parts he wants to fix it in St Augustine.  The temperature gauge and compass had stopped working, so whether it was just the light or something else…he’ll find out when we get down there in December..

Evening Walks in the Park by Lake Washington

Several evenings we have enjoyed walking along the lake in Coulon Park (only about a mile from our condo), seeing the sunset over the Olympic Mountains.

A plane's contrail was tinted pink that night

There goes another plane (that dot!)
There were so many more people tonight, after a beautiful weekend day, and there were so many boats docking.  We stayed to watch, and it was interesting as well as pretty with all their lights.  We see how people are so knowledgeable about boats; we’d had to learn so much about loading, unloading and even starting the boat at Telemark.

Looks like rush hour
